If there is one thing I love most about being a hair stylist is the fact that the journey to learn everything there is to know about hair is a never ending journey.  It doesn’t matter if a stylist has been styling for 1 year or a 100. There will always be new fashion seasons, new hair trends and new techniques, and that’s what keeps me inspired and in love with my profession.  

With that being said, education plays a huge role in my vision for Soho.  I would love nothing more than for Soho to be recognized among other things, as a salon where the styling team takes continuing education seriously.  This is why I am so excited to be traveling with the entire Soho styling team to Los Angeles in April for 8 days to take the ABC Cutting Diploma course at the Sassoon Academy in Santa Monica. The course is devoted to teaching the touchstone techniques used by Sassoon trained stylists and focuses on allowing the stylist to truly perfect lines, graduation, layering and their combinations by being immeresed in hands-on practical work sessions and detailed tutorials from the highly qualified academy team.

I have no doubt that we will all come back from Santa Monica as better stylists armed with knowledge that will allow us to successfully continue on the never ending journey of becoming Master Stylists.  The next time you are in the salon, be sure ask Ashley, Lia or Jodi what they are looking forward to most about our trip to the Sassoon Academy in Santa Monica.  Knowing the level of passion and commitment they have for their craft, I’m certain “the beach” will be the last item on their list.
