More on Soho

Experience

Fostering
confidence

in our clients

At Soho time stops and every client is a part of a very special club. Vidal Sassoon is the guiding light and so are the fashion capitals of the world.

The global cities of New York, London and Paris have all influenced the creative direction of Soho. Precision hair cutting, colouring and barbering from London, the classic French girl aesthetic from Paris and New York’s couture fashion culture are the pillars of Soho’s foundation in Edmonton.

A visit to Soho will heighten all senses – except the common.

The Details

Salon Lighting, Colour Perfect Lighting

Salon Lighting, Colour Perfect Lighting

Internationally recognized by the world’s top salons across the globe, the breakthrough Color Perfect LED lighting system, imported from NY, truly separates Soho from the pack. The Colour Perfect lighting produces a precise quality of light that is perfectly balanced while harmoniously blending the warm and cool tones of natural daylight to allow for perfect hair color.

The Color Perfect Lighting includes three different lighting fixtures, ambient, task and mirror. The ambient light is the workhorse of our salon environment and spreads an even canopy of bright light while simultaneously showering the salon with a soothing down light. The task light focuses directly on the client’s head, allowing the stylist to evaluate, color and bathe the immediate area with a perfect balance of intensity and brilliance. The mirror light adds warmth to the room, eliminates circles under the eyes and adds a warm glow and healthy look to the complexion. We guarantee you’ve never seen yourself in this light before!

Decorative Lighting, Stilvano Bistro Light

Decorative Lighting, Stilvano Bistro Light

Designed in the 1950s our Stilvano bistro light is one of our favourite pieces in the salon and if you close your eyes while basking in its glow, you might just hear the sounds of a bustling Paris cafe.

Industrial Lighting, Serge Mouille Ceiling Lamp

Industrial Lighting, Serge Mouille Ceiling Lamp

Designed in 1958 by Serge Mouille in Paris, a french industrial designer and goldsmith, this highly sought after and very limited lamp is inspired by musculature and skeletons and the shades represent a female form.

Reflection, Louis Philippe Gilt Mirror

Reflection, Louis Philippe Gilt Mirror

A mid-19th century French design, Louis Philippe Gilt Mirrors could be found in the ballrooms of the luxurious Palace of Versailles and in grand apartments on the Avenue des Champs-Élysées in Paris.

Woodwork, Crownmolding & Wainscotting

Woodwork, Crownmolding & Wainscotting

Reminiscent of a historic 17th century private mansion in Paris, our crown molding and wainscotting has stunning classic style details. We love how the mouldings & paneling reflect on our marble front desk.

Hardware

Hardware

The handle pulls throughout the salon are based on french flea market finds, the marais hardware is crafted in solid brass that results in a streamlined silhouette that mimics the subtle elegance of a Parisian apartment.

Gallery Wall

Gallery Wall

The Paris apartment of art dealers of Lawrence and Patrick Séguin inspired our very own gallery wall in the salon. The constantly rotating art pieces in our gallery are inspired by eclectic design, contemporary art, world travel and family. Be sure to ask Carole about the stories behind the art on our gallery wall!

Front Desk, Marble

Front Desk, Marble

Inspired by a grand apartment building developed by Banda Properties, that overlooks one of London England’s premier garden squares, our front desk stands tall every day with open arms to welcome your arrival.

Seating, Senate Committee Chair

Seating, Senate Committee Chair

Designed by Jean Jeanneret in Paris in 1955, after graduating from Ecole Des Beaux-Arts in Geneva, Jean designed this classic chair. Its flat inclined backrest, compass base and tapered legs will never go out of style.

Seating, Bonapart Chair

Seating, Bonapart Chair

Designed by Eileen Gray in Paris in 1935, her Bonaparte chair is one of the seldom cases in which the luxurious comfort of an upholstered chair has been successfully united with a tubulär steel construction. Eileen Gray used it for decades as her desk chair in her Paris home at Rue Bonaparte.

Seating, Fauteuil Direction Chair

Seating, Fauteuil Direction Chair

Designed by Jean Prouvé in Paris in the 1940’s, the Fauteuil Direction Chair is a comfortable armchair that design cuts a fine figure and exemplifies the constructive aesthetic for which Prouvé is so well known for. This chair is our “pièce de résistance”!

La Salle De Bain

La Salle De Bain

Inspired by a family apartment in the old neighborhood of Le Marais in Paris, our bathroom will probably surprise you! The classic white marble countertop, the golden brass faucet, the almond green cabinetry and brass pulls combined with the bespoke woodwork and wainscotting will invigorate a feeling of french art-deco.

Barber Chair, Belmont Takara

Barber Chair, Belmont Takara

Our barber chair was inspired by the well appointed men’s grooming area at the luxury “Hotel Crillon” Paris. The design of this classic chair has not changed in over 50 years and the custom color, England Green, is a tip-of-the-hat to Barber Greg’s time spent training in London, England at the London School of Barbering.

Flooring & Paint

Flooring & Paint

Often overlooked, the flooring at Soho has been imported from Spain and hand selected with careful consideration by Soho Master Hair Stylist, Carole Lemire. The beautiful metallic, 12*24 stone tiles give the illusion of a rusted steel floor that has been power polished to bring out Mother Nature’s most modern browns and metallic bronzes. So nice you’ll feel guilty for stepping on it.

The crisp white environment at Soho is reminiscent of a classic Parisian apartment. The clear background and a clean palette accurately showcases the hair color and the hair design. Sharp, clean and glossy surfaces, along with the stunning Color Perfect Lighting System, give the space a natural glow, perfect for color perfection and master hair design.

Great experience all around – nothing but good hair days since Carole cleaned up my cut with a style that works with my natural texture, instead of fighting it. So happy with the service and staff of Soho!

What a gem of a place. Very welcoming environment. Staff are very friendly, professional, and knowledgeable. I think I may have got the best color and style ever. Thank you!

Amazing salon. I’ve never had a bad experience at soho. Love that they don’t squeeze other appointments in between a longer colour service

I love going to Soho! The whole crew is passionate about hair. They believe in a spirit of excellence as they encourage one another, sharpen each other; and seek outside expertise constantly. And I love seeing Christine! She is an incredible stylist who takes her time with the perfect cut. Plus she’s a beautiful full of life being! So you’ll leave feeling good about yourself.

This salon is tremendous! I’ve been coming here for a few years and I I always leave happy. A number of their staff worked with me to get a hair massacre (from another salon!) wedding ready in 7 months. I recommend this salon to all my friends looking for a new place to go.

We are so fortunate to have a Salon of this caliber in Edmonton and in the Southwest to boot! I have tried many of the stylists since I started going to Soho and they are ALL very knowledgeable, friendly and talented. As a self professed hair snob I must admit I’ve never left the salon unhappy and I always have my next couple of appointments booked!
Jill K
Love going to this place. Everyone I’ve encountered there has been so friendly and open, and they all love to try new things with your hair. They are very knowledgable and will give you real advice. Not to mention the pampering experience they provide. Totally worth the price.

Just had the best experience here. I got exactly what I wanted. It took a while because it was a complicated cut, but they wanted to make sure it was perfect. Owner is really involved in the process and is always teaching the latest techniques. Will definitely be back

I’m new to Edmonton and have been looking for a new hair salon for some time and I finally found one. These girls are amazing at what they do and made me feel so welcomed. I’m very satisfied with my experience at Soho and will be returning.
