Alexander McQueen: Savage Beauty In NYC
About a month and a half ago I had the opportunity of a life time to visit the Alexander McQueen – Savage Beauty exhibit at The MET in New York. Aside from Sassoon, McQueen has had an impact on my life and my career as a hair stylist that words cannot describe. For years I have been a devoted fan of his influential work and have long felt a special connection with him. As any artist can attest, be it a painter, a hair stylist or a fashion designer like McQueen, one’s work can often become a consuming and passionate struggle for a perfection that never does arrive.

It was somewhat fitting that on the day that McQueen died, I was on my way to meet Greg and our friends Chris and Jill in NYC to spend a few days exploring the city in February of 2010. It was on this weekend that while spending an evening at a lounge in the neighborhood of Soho, that the vision of Soho Master Hair Stylists was born. Three short months after arriving home from that life changing trip the doors at Soho opened for the very first time.
The MET exhibition closes on July 23rd. If you happen to be in NYC before then and are at all interested in fashion and art, the Savage Beauty exhibit is an inspiring and amazing celebration of a fashion designer who will be long known as one of the best ever.
